Review of Old Stone Inn boutique hotel

I had a girls weekend in Niagara and we stayed in the Old Stone Inn boutique hotel last winter, and I have to say, this may be one of my favourite hotels! This pet friendly hotel is located in Niagara Falls and is really a hidden gem. The hotel used to be a flour mill and was converted to a hotel in 1977. Over the years it has accommodated and entertained some famous guests such as Justin Trudeau and Princess Diana.

On our girls weekend, we arrived ahead of check in time but our room was already ready for us, we were 4 people so we stayed in a room with two queen beds. The room itself was cozy and welcoming and absolutely spotless. They also have us an abundance of shower gel, shampoo etc, which we all greatly appreciated. There us nothing worse than a hotel that’s mean with that stuff, especially when you’re a group of 4 women sharing a room! One feature we all commented on, and thought was a great idea was the sink and mirror outside the bathroom. This came in handy when if was time to get ready because even if someone was in the bathroom, we had the other sink and mirror to use!

The hotel has a great heated indoor saltwater pool, so if you are staying there, make sure to bring your swim suit. The first thing I noticed about the hotel was the attention to detail, it is meticulously designed and decorated, they really have thought of everything. We stayed in November so the hotel was all decorated for Christmas and it was beautiful. As soon as you enter the lobby, you feel the coziness of the hotel, it’s so inviting and welcoming.

The hotel features a restaurant and bar. The Flour Mill Scratch Kitchen restaurant is opened 7 days a week for breakfast, brunch and dinner. I highly recommend you eat in the restaurant because the food was absolutely fantastic. We had brunch there the day we arrived and it did not disappoint. The eggs Benedict were a big hit but the quiche and French toast also got rave reviews! The restaurant itself is stunning. The restaurant has embraced it’s roots with rugged stone throughout as well as a beautiful fireplace. The restaurant, along with the hotel itself oozes opulence yet remains warm and welcoming to all. As we looked around the restaurant, I was imagining a cozy and intimate winter wedding here, it would be fabulous. If I wasn’t already married myself, I would consider it!

There’s a fabulous courtyard area where you can relax in the sun

There is also a beautiful bar space if you want to relax with a glass of wine or a night cap. The bar area screams of elegance but once again still has those warm and inviting vibes. It’s the perfect space to relax with a drink one cold winter’s night. The Old Stone Inn has introduced something new this winter – Snow Globe Dining. They have beautiful snow globes set up in the courtyard, and here you can dine under the stars.

I returned to the hotel this past weekend, for a summer staycation with Phil, my husband, and once again, we had a perfect stay. Our suite was unbelievable, so spacious and beautiful and the bed was so comfortable I could easily have stayed there for a week. The food was everything I remembered and more, and Phil also was thoroughly impressed.

All in all, this is the perfect escape in Niagara Falls, offering you comfort and acting as your home away from home. If you’re planning a girls weekend in Niagara, then look no further than the Old Stone Inn. You can get the full itinerary for a girls weekend in Niagara here.

Covid-19 Update

When we at the hotel last weekend, we felt totally safe staying there during the pandemic. The hotel is absolutely spotless, obviously being cleaned and sanitized regularly. There was plexi-glass around the front desk and all staff were masked. The person who checked us in was also wearing gloves along with a mask and check-out was totally contact-less and paperless. We, and all other guests were also masked at all times while we were inside the hotel, and everyone was respecting physical distancing measures. There were also some sanitizing stations in place. They also have a fabulous pop-up-patio set up, which will remain in place for the summer. This is where we had brunch and breakfast this past weekend, and it was really nice. Furthermore, they are offering takeout picnics at $49 for 2 people, and they will even give you picnic blankets if you want to enjoy your food on the beach or in a park!
